My editor (vim) auto-removes whitespace at EOL for *.c and *.h files, and I think it makes sense to have a separate commit for this, rather than littering other commits with such changes. To make sure this won't pile up again, add a line to Makefile under the linter target to check for such things (so CI will fail). This is all whitespace except an addition to Makefile.
